Production of the new iPad is said to begin with a small pilot only, although shipments for the second quarter are expected to increase significantly and could exceed the level of first-generation iPads delivered during the last quarter of last year.
There are also growing rumours that both the iPhone 5 and iPad 2 will feature NFC (Near Field Communication) technology, which would enable both Apple devices to be used for mobile payments.
