The Codex Leicester is the most expensive book in the world ever sold. Was bought by Bill Gates at auction in 1994. Written between 1506 and 1510, the Codex Leicester provide the minds of great Renaissance artists, scientists, and thinkers, Leonardo da Vinci.


Codex is named by Thomas Coke, later first Earl of Leicester, purchased in 1717. Physically, the Codex takes the form of 18 sheets of paper, each folded in half and written on both sides, forming a complete 72-page document.

The Emirates Palace Hotel in Abu Dhabi – already the home of the world’s first gold ATM – has unveiled an $11 million Christmas tree. “The tree itself is about 10,000 dollars,” Olbertz said. “The jewellery has a value of over 11 million dollars — I think 11.4, 11.5.” The hotel, which bills itself as seven-star, in February introduced a package for a seven-day stay priced at one million dollars.
Takers of the package have a private butler and a chauffeur-driven Maybach luxury car at their disposal during their stay, as well as a private jet available for trips to other countries in the region.

Most impressive perhaps is its navigation button, featuring a single cut 7.4ct pink diamond in platinum. An 8ct single cut diamond, which can replace the 7.4ct like an outfit, is also included.
